General Information: Echo View Estates is a local bouldering area that offers mostly face and sport type bouldering. The rock is solid and offers a range of difficulty. The beautiful setting, with Echo and Angora Peaks starring at you, is an additional benefit. The area is compact enough that little exploration is necessary to find the best problems.

Where To Start: The area is located along Sawmill Pond Rd. which can be reached either from Highway 50 or North Upper Truckee Rd. From the "Y" in South Lake Tahoe, head out North Upper Truckee (past the car dealerships). Continue straight at the blinking stop light and then look for a small pond on your left. Turn left onto Sawmill Pond Road and continue for 1/2 mile or so. Looking to the left, you will see a good sized outcropping of dark rock. You can park along Sawmill Road and hike up to the area, or continue on to the Echo View Estates Road where you turn left. Head up the road, turn right then left again and park at the end of the road in the dirt next to a house that actually has a huge boulder incorporated into one of the walls (very cool!) Walk down to the boulders making sure to give the house a wide berth so as not to disturb the residents.
