Lake Tahoe Bouldering & Rock Climbing - Donner Summit - North Shore

General Information: We have to admit we have never climbed here so our information is brief and taken from the two guide books on Tahoe climbing, Climber's Guide to Tahoe Rock by Mike Carville and Tahoe Rock Climbing by Christine Jenkewitz-Meytras. While we have never been there, we have heard first hand raves about what a great climbing area it is. The climbing is spread over many granite outcroppings with hundreds of high quality, varied climbs on good rock.

We plan on exploring this area this summer, so check back for more first-hand information after summer.

Where To Start: The Donner Summit climbing area is located along old Highway 40 that runs between Truckee and Soda Springs. Coming from Tahoe, take Highway 40 west past Donner Lake. The climbing area is spread between many outcrops that begin just over a mile from Donner Lake. From the west, take the Soda Springs exit then head past Norden towards Donner Lake.
