General
Information: The Upper Truckee road bike ride is a fine alternative
to the crowded South Shore Bike Trail, especially during high
summer. The ride cruzes along a wide, but uncrowded paved road,
past rural homes then ends at a bridge overlooking the scenic
Upper Truckee River. To push yourself, you can continue up the
steep final mile of the road as it winds up to Highway 89. This
ride is perfect for families or casual riders.
Where
To Start: From the "Y" in South Lake Tahoe, head
west on US 50 towards Sacramento. You will pass the junction for
Highway 89, then cross a bridge. Just after the bridge, turn left
on South Upper Truckee Rd. Park along the side of the road.
